The Spiderweb

NaPoWriMo DAY THIRTY 30 April 2020

Prompt: poem about something that returns

THE SPIDERWEB

witness to absences

herald of returns

loyal

unforgiving

of forgotten corners

cites conventions

pulchritude

demands attention

watchful

caring

conscientious

presence

indoors

flimsy shreds

annoying grey-white

dust-catching

out-of-place

charges of neglect

swiftly wiped away

outdoors

webs freely strung

among twigs branches

open air sun

admired

ornamental designs

translucent

emblems of elegance

dangling dewdrops

proprietary gems

intricate

nonchalant

frail-seeming beauty

purposeful

artfully crafted

insidious trap

conceals lethal intent

predator’s breakfast

passing winged creature’s

doomed

dead-end flight

same choice

forever

returns

same freedom

chaos of melded

togetherness

multiple picks

equal valid

trick

maybe mindful

of unloved

orphan
